On 04 August 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) paid a courtesy call on Hon. Carmelita “Menchie” A. Abalos at Mandaluyong City Hall. Representing CFBCI, President Gerald Uy Chan led the delegation, together with Executive Vice President Paul Yeung, Vice President Willy Chuakimtong, Director Gregorio Lagamayo, Vice Chairman Jack Wong of the Trade & Commerce Committee, and Plenary Member Aldwin Tan.

Mayor Abalos warmly welcomed the CFBCI delegation to her office and expressed her sincere appreciation for the Filipino-Chinese community’s continued support of the government. She particularly commended CFBCI’s sustained efforts to foster stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.

During the meeting, Mayor Abalos shared several ongoing initiatives aimed at building a more sustainable, progressive, and well-organized Mandaluyong City, guided by the city’s mantra, “Gawa Hindi Salita, Mandaleño Disiplinado.” Among these initiatives is the city’s planned completion, by the last quarter of 2027, of the conversion of electrical and telecommunications wires from exposed and disorganized “spaghetti wires” into underground and systematically arranged utility channels.

As a concrete expression of its commitment to supporting the City of Mandaluyong, CFBCI spearheaded the turnover of 100 Philippine flags for the city’s upcoming celebration of National Heroes’ Day, as well as 100 raincoats for local traffic enforcement officials. President Chan likewise proposed a one-day free legal clinic in partnership with the city’s Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), further strengthening CFBCI’s commitment to supporting the welfare of the local community.

The courtesy call highlighted the shared commitment of CFBCI and the City Government of Mandaluyong to meaningful public-private cooperation. CFBCI looks forward to building on this partnership through initiatives that promote good governance, community welfare, public safety, and sustainable urban development.
