On 27 July 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), represented by President Gerald Uy Chan and Executive Vice President Paul Yeung, was pleased to attend the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
During his address, President Marcos Jr. outlined his administration’s priorities in strengthening the Philippine economy, enhancing public services, and advancing reforms to improve the ease of doing business.
Among the key initiatives highlighted were expanded support for farmers and fisherfolk, affordable rice programs, tax relief proposals for the middle class and small businesses, amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) to reduce electricity costs, accelerated infrastructure development, investments in energy security and digital transformation, as well as continued efforts to attract investments, combat corruption, and promote efficient governance.
He likewise reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to upholding the 2016 Arbitral Award through peaceful and legal means while emphasizing the importance of national resilience and stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector.
On this occasion, CFBCI reconnected with distinguished government officials and public servants with whom the organization has had the privilege of collaborating over the years. Perez, Director-General of the Anti-Red Tape Authority; Atty. Chel Diokno, Representative of the Akbayan Party-list; and former Senator Leila de Lima
We are also pleased to meet our partners in government including Atty. Charlito Martin Mendoza, Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue; Atty. Romando “Don” Artes, Chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority; and the mayors and congressmen of various cities within and beyond Metro Manila.
