CFBCI commemorates Earth Hour 2026 in collaboration with Lucky Chinatown and WWF Philippines 菲華工商總會攜手美加廣場響應地球一小時與全球同步熄燈凝聚公私力量共守綠色家園

On 28 March 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) partnered with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls’ Lucky Chinatown and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines in staging the Earth Hour 2026 observance at Lucky Chinatown, Binondo, Manila. The event culminated at 8:30 p.m. with the synchronized switching off of non-essential lights, symbolizing a unified commitment to climate action and environmental sustainability through public–private collaboration.

 

The program featured a dynamic blend of advocacy and engagement, including a sustainable live exhibition, live musical performances, and an LED installation that reinforced the theme of green living. Hosted by Sharlene Maglaque, Deputy General Manager of Lucky Chinatown, and emceed by Amaya Abong, the event was attended by CFBCI leadership, including Executive Vice President Paul Yeung, who delivered a speech on behalf of the organization.

 

He was joined by Corporate Secretary Henry Go, Education Committee Vice Chairman Linda Lao, and Plenary Member Winston Te, and beneficiaries of the “Pagharap sa Pangarap College Scholarship Program,” underscoring a multi-sector commitment to advancing sustainability.

 

In his message, Executive Vice President Paul Yeung emphasized that Earth Hour reflects a shared responsibility to safeguard the planet, noting that collective small actions can drive transformative impact at scale. He further urged the business sector to embed sustainable practices alongside economic and technological progress, stressing that environmental stewardship must remain integral to long-term growth. He called on all stakeholders to translate awareness into sustained, practical action in daily operations and community life.

 

Mark Auditor, Country Director of WWF-Philippines, highlighted the global scale of the initiative, with participation spanning 190 countries, and underscored the critical role of cross-sector collaboration in advancing conservation efforts. CFBCI reaffirmed its commitment as a socially responsible business organization, leveraging its platform to contribute meaningfully to a resource-efficient and sustainable society.

 

菲華工商總會訊:三月二十八日晚間,由美加廣場與世界自然基金會(WWF)菲律濱分會發起,本會協辦之「地球一小時 二零二六」活動於美加廣場圓滿舉行,並獲得菲律濱童子軍積極響應。當晚八時三十分,現場同步熄燈,以實際行動喚起大眾對氣候變遷與環境永續的關注,展現公私部門攜手愛地球的願景。

 

當晚活動亮點紛呈,商場中央設置的LED圓柱顯示裝置與現場音樂表演及永續生活展覽交相輝映,營造出濃厚的綠色生活氛圍。活動由美加廣場副總經理 Sharlene Maglaque主持,司儀Amaya Abong專業引導。本會執行副理事長兼公共資訊委員會督導楊良田代表本會親臨出席致詞,隨行領導還包括立案秘書吳恆利、常務理事留牡丹及理事鄭清洋,及十位「點亮未來」受助學生,共同以實際行動響應全球減碳願景。

 

本會執行副理事長楊良田在致詞中深刻指出:「熄燈一小時的背後,實則是點亮我們守護地球的共同責任。」他強調,個人的微小實踐若能匯聚,必能驅動社區、城市乃至國家的巨大改變。楊執行副理事長呼籲,在追求經濟與科技騰飛的當下,商界更應有意識地落實永續行動。他堅定表示,作為華裔商界的一份子,深知「經濟成長與環境永續必須並行」,保護地球絕非少數人的職責,而是全體社會應盡的義務。並以此號召大眾將環保意識化為日常行動,共同承擔保護家園的神聖使命。

 

世界自然基金會菲律濱項目負責人 Mark Auditor 對此次跨界合作給予高度評價,並指出:「今年全球共有一百九十個國家同步響應『地球一小時』活動,充分展現了國際社會守護地球的決心。」他重申,公私協力是推動節能環保的核心動力,除了象徵性的熄燈儀式,更應在日常中貫徹節能增效與資源循環。他期許透過此平台,將全球性的環保意識轉化為全民的具體節約行動,建立人與自然和諧共生的社會機制。

 

當晚八時三十分,隨著全球「地球一小時」行動正式展開,現場在司儀的領讀與倒數引導下,進入活動高潮。美加廣場副總經理 Sharlene Maglaque、本會執行副理事長楊良田、世界自然基金會菲律濱項目負責人 Mark Auditor 及菲律濱童子軍成員共同合力啟動儀式,準時熄滅商場內非必要照明。這一刻,燈火的暫熄轉化為守護地球的集體承諾,彰顯了社會各界攜手推動環境保護的堅定決心。

 

本會始終以「社會企業公民」為己任。此次參與全球環保行動,旨在發揮社團影響力,引領菲華企業界實踐綠色經營,將永續轉化為經營核心,為構建資源節約與環境友好的和諧社會貢獻力量。
