On 15
August 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), in partnership
with the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations, Inc. (FFCAAI) successfully
hosted a Philippine Economic Outlook Forum featuring Dr. Cielo D. Magno, an economist and
Former Finance Undersecretary.
On behalf
of CFBCI, President Gerald Uy Chan attended the forum along with Vice
President William Rogando, Director Benito Uy, Director Ellen Martines who
is the incumbent President of FFCAAI, Corporate Secretary Henry Go, and other
officers and members.
Carrying
the theme “Resilience and Reinvention: Steering Through Economic Transitions," the forum was
held at the Justo Albert Auditorium of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
(PLM). The theme underscored the importance of adaptability, strategic
thinking, and innovation as businesses and communities navigate an increasingly
complex economic environment marked by global uncertainties, evolving market
conditions, and domestic challenges.
In his
message, President Chan remarked: “I have had the opportunity to meet and
engage with many public officials, and one message consistently comes across:
the government cannot transform our society on its own. Meaningful change
requires the participation and commitment of every sector. So, in our own
respective ways, let us do our part in turning uncertainty into an opportunity
for collaboration, innovation, and progress.”
Dr. Magno shared her
insights on key economic developments affecting the Philippines, providing
participants with a broader perspective on the forces influencing economic
growth, business confidence, and national development. Her discussion
encouraged attendees to look beyond immediate challenges and consider how
resilience, informed decision-making, and reinvention can help businesses and
institutions remain responsive amid periods of economic transition.
The forum
also highlighted the importance of strengthening dialogue between the business
and academic communities. By bringing together individuals from diverse
professional backgrounds, CFBCI and FFCAAI sought to encourage meaningful
exchanges on how the private sector and other stakeholders can contribute to a
more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Philippine economy.
The
successful forum reaffirmed CFBCI’s commitment to providing its members and
partners with relevant economic insights while creating opportunities for
dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
Through
initiatives such as this, CFBCI continues to promote greater awareness of
national economic issues and encourage its members to remain proactive and
adaptable in responding to the opportunities and challenges ahead.
