On 17 June 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), led by President Gerald Uy Chan, paid a courtesy call to Atty. Charlito Martin Mendoza, Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The meeting, which explored potential areas for collaboration between the two parties, was attended by CFBCI Immediate Past President Samuel Lee Uy, Executive Vice President Paul Yeung, Vice President Edwin John Ty, and Director Richard Yao.
Also present in the meeting were Marissa O. Cabreros – Deputy Commissioner for Operations Group, Larry M. Barcelo – Deputy Commissioner for Legal Group, and Ma. Rosario Charo G. Enriquez-Curiba – Deputy Commissioner for Information Systems Group.
To officially begin the meeting, CFBCI President Chan introduced his fellow officers and shared the organization’s key initiatives and ongoing programs. Commissioner Mendoza, in turn, expressed his appreciation for CFBCI’s continued efforts in strengthening cooperation and fostering productive partnerships between the private sector and the government.
“Kami po ay kasama ninyo sa negosyo,” said the Commissioner, encouraging the public not to be afraid of the Bureau, but instead collaborate with them to help enforce tax laws for nation-building and the uplift of the lives of Filipinos. In line with this agenda, BIR currently has an online community channel where citizens and businessmen alike can access the latest BIR advisories and guidelines.
During the courtesy meeting, the Commissioner highlighted the Bureau’s ongoing initiatives to modernize its operations and streamline its payment systems. Under his leadership, the Bureau of Internal Revenue is pursuing a transformative approach that shifts its focus from being primarily revenue-driven to becoming a more taxpayer-centric institution, placing greater emphasis on efficiency, accessibility, and the overall welfare of the Filipino people.
The visit successfully ended with the presentation of the CFBCI Seal of Collaboration to Commissioner Mendoza.
