On 10 October 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), spearheaded by President Gerald Uy Chan, successfully hosted a special block screening of the animated film Plump Blossom at Lucky Chinatown Cinema 2.
In cooperation with Kapitana Media Entertainment, CHiNOY TV, and Chinatown TV, the event brought together families, friends, and colleagues for a meaningful Family Day celebrating Chinese heritage, cultural traditions, and the enduring values that unite generations.
During the pre-program, CFBCI President Chan delivered his welcome remarks, emphasizing that what children learn today helps shape the individuals, communities, and ultimately, the nation of tomorrow. He highlighted the role of films such as Plump Blossom in making valuable lessons accessible to young audiences through creative, engaging, and memorable storytelling. He also encouraged attendees to appreciate the film’s artistry and innovation while embracing the meaningful values and cultural heritage it seeks to share.
Following President Chan’s remarks, CFBCI Director Stella Lim introduced the film, describing Plump Blossom as the Philippines’ first AI-assisted, full-length animated musical, inspired by the rich culture, traditions, and timeless values of the Tang Dynasty. Written, directed, and produced by Rossana Hwang of Kapitana Media Entertainment, the story unfolds in a fictional ancient Huang Dynasty and follows Princess Ruo Hua, also known as the Plump Blossom Princess — a big-hearted, food-loving, and independent young princess determined to choose her own destiny. As she faces various challenges, she learns to navigate life with compassion, humility, wisdom, and courage, discovering the meaning of friendship, love, sacrifice, and true inner beauty.
After the block screening, in a short Q&A portion, Ms. Gay Domingo, publicist of Plump Blossom, highlighted the film’s distinction as a pioneering Filipino animated production made with the assistance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). She emphasized that its central message, particularly for the younger generation, is that true beauty comes from being kind both inside and out. Mr. Thunderson Tan, who voiced one of the film’s characters, added that the story underscores the importance of having the courage to stand up for what is right.
Through this special screening, CFBCI reaffirmed its commitment to bringing families and communities together through initiatives that promote the rich Chinese heritage. Beyond providing an opportunity for families to share an enjoyable cinematic experience, the event underscored the enduring power of storytelling to shape character, preserve values, and inspire future generations. In supporting stories like Plump Blossom, CFBCI continues to champion the nurturing of a generation that honors its heritage and contributes to building a more compassionate society.
