On 08 August 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) attended the Orientation and Oath-Taking Ceremony of MMDA Hotline 136 Troopers held at the Brgy. Sto. Niño Covered Court in Marikina City. Representing CFBCI, President Gerald Uy Chan graced the ceremony alongside Director Robert Chua, Organization Committee Vice Chairman Robert Ong Jr., Trade & Commerce Committee Vice Chairman Jack Wong, and Member Aldwin Tan.
The Hotline 136 Troopers is a flagship initiative of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) under the leadership of Usec. Nicolas “Nick” D. Torre, General Manager of MMDA. The initiative underscores the agency’s continuing efforts to strengthen its frontline services, mobilize community participation, and enhance its responsiveness to the needs and concerns of the public.
On behalf of CFBCI, Director Chua delivered a message highlighting the organization’s strong support for the initiative and for MMDA’s broader efforts to promote organized volunteerism, public safety, disaster preparedness, and civic engagement. “Sa lahat ng paraan upang makatulong sa ating Bayan, tingin ko ay wala nang hihigit pa sa pagbabahagi ng sariling oras at kakayahan para sa nakararami. Ito ay isang paglilingkod na hindi matutumbasan ng anumang halaga,” he said.
Joining the 350-strong volunteers of Hotline 136 were Hon. Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro, Mayor of Marikina City, and Hon. Marcelino “Marcy” Reyes Teodoro, Representative of the 1st District of Marikina City. Mayor Maan proudly highlighted the city’s strong culture of civic participation and activism, particularly the spirit of collective action in keeping communities safe, orderly, and secure.
A key feature of the Hotline 136 initiative is the MMDA’s 5-5-5 service guarantee, which reflects its commitment to providing a swift and responsive public service. Under this commitment, calls to Hotline 136 will be answered within five rings, MMDA responders will aim to arrive at the reported location within five minutes, and, for simple and immediately addressable concerns, the issue will be resolved within another five minutes. This service standard emphasizes the importance of speed, accessibility, and efficiency in responding to the day-to-day concerns of the public.
CFBCI commends MMDA for this meaningful initiative and congratulates the newly inducted Hotline 136 Troopers for their commitment to public service.
