CFBCI DONATES RAINCOATS AND PHILIPPINE FLAGS TO MAKATI CITY

On 04 June 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), led by President Gerald Uy Chan, officially donated Philippine flags and raincoats to Makati City. The turnover ceremony was graced by Makati Mayor Nancy Binay, who shared the City’s future initiatives anchored on the theme, “Progreso, Pamana." Director Mylene Co, Director Richard Yao, Director Jimmy Ang, and other officers and members of the organization also attended the meaningful event.

The donation of 100 Philippine flags in commemoration of the 128th National Independence Day and 100 raincoats for local law and traffic enforcers coincided with a courtesy meeting between CFBCI and the Makati City Government. During the meeting, CFBCI presented its flagship programs, including its entrepreneurship and financial literacy forums and Operation Brotherhood welfare initiatives.

Mayor Binay warmly discussed the City’s upcoming activities to promote inclusive progress while preserving the City’s heritage. She emphasized the importance of looking for middle ground where both the public and private sectors can thrive, particularly in adjusting taxes to attract investment and business ventures in the city.

The discussion also focused on support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), where CFBCI conveyed its readiness to work with the City Government in advancing business development, capacity-building, and investment promotion initiatives that create opportunities for local entrepreneurs. According to Mayor Binay, her goal is to make Makati a ‘trendsetter’ again in balancing economic growth, social welfare, and environmental conservation.

To further strengthen cooperation, CFBCI proposed several partnership initiatives, including support for the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police through facility improvement projects. The Club also presented the concept of a Makati Filipino-Chinese Business Development Council to serve as a bridge between the business sector and the City Government, while supporting economic development, cultural heritage, tourism, and civic engagement.
