On 10 April 2025, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) was represented by its President, Mr. Samuel Lee Uy, in the “Meet the Manila Press" forum organized by a group of media practitioners covering government agencies in Manila. President Uy was interviewed along with Bureau of Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval and Usec. Gilbert Cruz of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission. Major media channels such as GMA 7, TV 5, local radio stations, and local news publications came to cover the event.
Tsinoys are known for growing their own businesses successfully, yet ‘getting rich’ should not be the only goal — we must aspire to give back to our less fortunate brothers and sisters, President Uy said. Despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the Philippines and China and the recent security threats against Filipino-Chinese people, he affirmed the commitment of the Tsinoy community to continue working alongside the national government to shape a brighter future for all Filipinos, will remain unshaken.
During the forum, President Uy introduced the three main advocacies of CFBCI: to assist the national government in fostering national economic development while strengthening Filipino-Chinese relations (as business organization), to extend help to our poor brothers and sisters in distress (as social welfare advocate), and to provide hope to less affluent yet hard working students by administering scholarships (as champion of youth empowerment).
He proudly mentioned that since the organization’s establishment, it has been an active catalyst for the promotion of a sustainable and balanced business development environment in the Philippines. Moreover, the organization has been consistently responding to calls for relief operations and other community projects catering to the needs of our disadvantaged brethren. Furthermore, President Uy also highlighted CFBCI’s Pagharap sa Pangarap College Scholarship Program which, at present, has at most 500 successful graduates who are all gainfully employed.
Through its unwavering collaboration with local governments and national agencies, CFBCI contributes to shaping economic policies for national development and generation of more employment opportunities. At present, CFBCI has been conducting anti-dengue projects in local schools and will be executing a medical mission in Tarlac. Moreover, in celebration of the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day, CFBCI will be hosting a table tennis tournament featuring students across the country and overseas.
Overall, it was a great opportunity through which CFBCI and the local media were able to bond with each other and ask questions relevant to public service. Definitely, our organization is looking forward to future engagements with the local Filipino media.
