On 25 May 2024, Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) President Samuel Lee Uy was invited to be the keynote speaker for the 79th Commencement Exercises and 8th Moving-Up Ceremony of students in Nan Sing School of Cauayan City, Isabela Province.
President Uy delivered a heartwarming speech in both English and Mandarin languages. He graduated in the same school back in 1969 hence his immense appreciation for being given the opportunity to address the graduates in his alma mater.
In his speech, he used the seven letters of the Filipino word “MATATAG,” which is also the Department of Education’s core mantra, in sharing the steps that the graduates can follow to achieve resilience as K-12 graduates: M – Make the best out of every challenge; A – Always aspire to be better than yesterday; T – Treasure the people around you; A – Accept your weaknesses; T – talk with peace, not hate; A – Abide with God; and G – Grow with your community.
President Uy’s words have provided encouragement to the graduates in facing a new chapter of their lives. During the 2023-2024 academic year, there was a total of 304 students in Nan Sing, 40 percent of which are of Chinese descent. The theme of the ceremony was “Filipino Youth Creating a Stronger Future for the New Philippines.” Since its establishment in 1940, Nan Sing has been a constant bearer of excellence by adhering to high standards of learning, continuously improving its facilities and teaching strategies, and promoting the Filipino-Chinese heritage from one generation to another.
菲華工商總會訊：本會理事長黃書瑋受邀於五月廿五日（星期六）下午，擔任依沙迷拉省菲律賓郊亞鄢南星學校（Nansing School of Cauayan City, Inc.），第七十九屆畢業典禮暨第八屆學生晉升儀式主講人。
理事長黃書瑋用中、英文致詞，首先向所有應屆畢業生表達祝賀，並表示非常榮幸受到母校郊亞鄢南星學校的邀請擔任高中部畢業典禮和晉升儀式的主講人。我跟所有在座的同學一樣，都是土生土長的依沙迷拉省華人，畢業於一九六九年，是你們的學長。理事長黃書瑋以菲文的“MATATAG”七個字母延伸出：「不懼怕挑戰」、「相信今天比昨天更好」、「珍惜身邊的人」、「接受自己的弱點，並敢於超越它們」、「和平地交談，而不是仇恨」、「與神同在」、「與社會共同成長」等七句話勉勵所有畢業生和晉升學生，鼓勵大家要勇於面對各種挑戰，並且期盼在面對未來的人生，能夠克服重重困難，實現所有夢想。
郊亞鄢南星學校二零二三至二零二四學年總共有三零四位學生，當中有百分之四十為華裔學生；本屆高中部畢業生有五十三位、初中部晉升高中十六位、小學晉升中學十六位及幼稚園畢業生十五位。本次典禮的主題為「菲律賓青年創造新菲律賓更強大的未來」。
菲律賓郊亞鄢南星學校創辦於一九四零年，至今已有八十四年歷史。該校自建校以來，學校奮發圖強，堅持高標準辦學，素質教育，辦學條件不斷改善，為中華文化在怡省薪傳不息，在海外代代傳承下去，其教育教學成果顯著，這些都要歸功於校領導、董事會和校友們的全力支助和無私的奉獻。
