On 05 November 2024, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), in partnership with Ford Tractor Philippines, Inc. (FTPI), conducted two consecutive relief operations in the municipality of Agoncillo in Batangas. In total, 500 families in Brgy. Adia and Brgy. Subic Ilaya who were extremely affected by Severe Tropical Kristine received relief packs and new clothes.

At 8:00 a.m., President Samuel Lee Uy along with the personnel of CFBCI and FTPI began their journey to Agoncillo, Batangas. At 10:30 a.m., President Uy united with the members of CFBCI in Batangas led by Director Willy Chion Wong at the Agoncillo Municipal Hall to personally meet Atty. Cinderella V. Reyes (Municipal Mayor) and Atty. Daniel Reyes (Municipal Vice Mayor) who expressed their immense gratitude for the relief assistance to be extended to their constituents. Mr. Arnel Torreja, former President of Rotary Club of Ibaan along with its members, and Vice Mayor Reyes joined CFBCI in these relief efforts.

The group first arrived at Brgy. Adia which is one of the landslide-hit areas in the municipality. It was very heartbreaking to witness the ruins of devastation caused by the typhoon. Nevertheless, the people welcomed the group with huge smiles and high spirits. Hon. Daniel Garcia, captain of the barangay, gave a short speech expressing their overwhelming gratitude for CFBCI’s kind gesture to his kababayans. President Samuel Lee Uy also took the opportunity to speak with the residents and boost their morale by saying that CFBCI will be always supporting local governments in assisting disaster-damaged communities.

Afterwards, the distribution started with all the residents waiting patiently in line and proceeding in an orderly fashion. Vice Chairman Nathalie Wong, Vice Chairman Jimmy Almerino, and Plenary Member Teresa Co assisted in distributing the relief goods to the people who received a pack of 5-kilo rice, 4 cans of sardines, 2 cans of meat loaf, and a new set of clothes. It was a heartwarming scene of bayanihan with everyone helping to make the project successful.

After the distribution, the group headed to the second location － Brgy. Subic Ilaya which is one of the coastal communities in the province extremely affected by severe storm surge. Weeks after the onslaught of Typhoon Kristine, residents are just starting to shovel the thick mud within and surrounding their homes. The whole barangay, led by captain Mario Almazor, was very glad to receive their relief packs and thanked CFBCI for its immediate response. People, especially fisher folks, appreciated the assistance which they treat as a huge blessing as most of them are just resuming in their livelihood.

All in all, the two relief efforts ended successfully, and CFBCI is able to achieve its goal: to make our disadvantaged brethren feel that they are not alone in their recovery journey. “Nothing is impossible as long as we help one another as one community,” President Uy said.

Previously, CFBCI also extended relief assistance to the victims of Typhoon Kristine in Bicol Region. The organization’s plenary member, Cong. Wilbert T. Lee (AGRI Partylist) volunteered to transport the goods to Sorsogon in benefit of disaster-hit residents.

菲華工商總會訊：颱風「克莉絲汀」（國際名「潭美」）肆虐本國呂宋島，於十月廿四日在本國東北方海岸登陸，所帶來的豪雨引發大規模洪患和土石流，造成逾百人喪生，七百多萬人撤離家園；描東岸省是本次風災有最多死亡人數的地區，據報為六十一人。

本會領導同仁長期秉持著「人飢己飢 人溺己溺」的人道救援精神，於十一月五日上午，聯合本會理事長黃書瑋所屬公司，菲律濱福特拖拉機公司(Ford Tractor Philippines, Inc.)職員工，前往描東岸省亞銀斯洛市（Agoncillo, Batangas）的描籠涯阿帝亞（Barangay Adia）及描籠涯蘇比克‧依拉亞（Barangay Subic Ilaya）發放援助物資。

本會理事長黃書瑋，描東岸地區董事黃志安，常務理事柯吉平、黃愛儀，理事姚寶珍及西文秘書梅西卡等人抵達亞銀斯洛市時，首先禮訪市政府，受到市長Atty. Cinderella V. Reyes及副市長Atty. Daniel Reyes等人的熱情接待。兩位正副市長均代表亞銀斯洛市民感謝本會領導同仁到當地重災區賑災，解災民們的燃眉之急。

隨後，本會領導同仁一行人在副市長Atty. Daniel Reyes及依巴安扶輪社（Rotary Club of Ibaan）前社長Arnel Torreja等人的陪同下到達第一站描籠涯阿帝亞，受到描籠涯主席Daniel Garcia及當地居民的熱烈歡迎。

理事長黃書瑋藉此機會向災民們轉達本會最深切的慰問，並表示，本會自一九九八年成立以來，每逢天災，都不落人後，第一時間配合政府有關部門捐贈援助物資予災區，並協助受災戶度過難關。「只要我們團結互助，沒有什麼是不可能的」。希望災民們能堅定信心、振奮精神，做好災後重建工作，儘快恢復生活秩序。本會領導同仁在當地描籠涯義工的協助下開始發放援助物資予受災戶。

緊接著，理事長黃書瑋一行人馬不停蹄地趕往該市沿海的描籠涯蘇比克‧依拉亞繼續發放物資，受到描籠涯主席Mario Almazor親自接待。該區是該省受災最嚴重的沿海社區之一。颱風克莉絲蒂娜肆虐數週後，居民們至今方等到水退去，開始剷除房屋內部和周圍厚厚的淤泥。當理事長黃書瑋等人抵達發放中心時，災民們早已排隊整齊，發放工作也立即展開，領到援助物資的災民都滿心喜悅，尤其是漁民們，感謝本會及菲律濱福特拖拉機公司的愛心義舉，幫他們渡過難關。每包援助物資內有：五公斤大米、沙丁魚罐頭、美式午餐肉罐頭及全新衣物等。此次賑災活動共惠及五百個災戶民眾。

本會於颱風「克莉絲汀」登陸當天，第一時間將第一批援助物資移交予農業政黨（AGRI-Party List）國會代表李偉傑眾議員，亦為本會外交委員會理事，將該批援助物資運往殊殊銀省（Sorsogon）颱風重災區，以盡棉薄之力。
