CFBCI attends official turnover of donated sports materials to pupils of Alupay Elementary School 菲華工商總會推廣運動促進健康捐描東岸公立小學全新運動設備

On 25 September 2024, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) visited the province of Batangas to attend the official turnover of donated sports materials in benefit of the 510 pupils of Alupay Elementary School in Rosario, Batangas. On behalf of CFBCI, President Samuel Lee Uy, Vice President Jocelyn See, Director Willy Chion Wong, Vice Chairman Jack Co, Vice Chairman Jimmy Almerino, Vice Chairman Nathalie Wong, Vice Chairman Jason Li, Plenary Member Teresa Co, and English Secretary Mexica Bausa participated in a short program organized by the school.

The delegation arrived at Alupay Elementary School at 11:00 a.m.; the school principal, Ms. Marissa D. De Ocampo, invited the group to her office to enjoy some refreshments. Afterwards, the group headed to the school gymnasium for the program. Dressed up in their colorful physical education (P.E.) uniforms, the pupils joyfully waved at the group as they walked towards the stage. The program began with the opening remarks of the school principal through which she expressed the overflowing gratitude of the school for the donation. She is optimistic that the donated sports materials will enhance the students’ interest and skills in table tennis, chess, basketball, and volleyball.

Other representatives of Alupay also gave short messages, namely: Hon. Crisanta P. Lat from the Brgy. Alupay Education Committee; Ms. Prescilla Villestas, President of the School Parent-Teacher Association; and Ms. Fatima M. Flor, President of the Supreme Elementary Learner Government. All of them expressed immense gratitude to the organization. They unanimously stated that these materials will contribute in honing the values of teamwork and sportsmanship among the young students.

Afterwards, Director Willy Chion Wong of CFBCI, who is also the President of the Batangas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry was given the opportunity to give an inspirational message to the students. He reminded the pupils that “big dreams always start with a small step.” Then, President Samuel Lee Uy formally presented the Handog sa Kabataang Atleta Project of CFBCI and delivered a sincere speech in which he said: “They say that it takes a whole community to raise a champion, that is why it is very important to make our children feel that they are being supported and cheered upon as they pursue their dreams.” While an olympic gold medal remains a dream for Alupay, CFBCI will never stop helping and sharing what it can so the younger generation will flourish and bring honor to our country.

Then, the speeches were followed by the official signing of the certificate of turnover of donation that was led by President Uy and Ms. De Ocampo. In her acceptance message, the principal highlighted the huge significance of the sports materials in harnessing the talent of their students who have been bagging medals and awards in local sports competitions. As the program came to an end, sweet and delicious cookie-biscuits were distributed to the students courtesy of Director Wong, creating a lively and heartwarming spectacle. In celebration of the upcoming World Teachers’ Day on October 5, Director Wong also gifted the teachers with buckets of biscuits and bag packs filled with school supplies that they can give to their indigent students. After the program, the delegation enjoyed a delicious lunch courtesy of the school where local dishes were served.

菲華工商總會訊:本會理事長黃書瑋偕同副理事長施茵茵、常務理事楊榮輝,及西文秘書梅西卡,於九月廿五日(星期三)上午驅車前往描東岸省羅沙溜市(Rosario, Batangas)的阿露百公立小學(Alupay Elementary School)與本會描東岸地區董事黃志安,常務理事許建陽、柯吉平、黃愛儀和理事姚寶珍一同移交本會捐贈的體育設備,受到校長Marissa D. De Ocampo及該校五百餘位師生的熱烈歡迎,並舉行移交儀式。

儀式開始,由校長Marissa D. De Ocampo致歡迎詞,她感謝本會領導同仁慷慨解囊捐贈全新運動設備,協助學校推動體育教學與運動類型的社團發展,讓孩子們能有更多元的學習,並表示,該設備將提高學生對運動的興趣和技能。

隨後,描籠涯阿露百教育委員會主任Crisanta P. Lat、家長教師聯誼會會長Prescila Villestas及學生會會長Fatima M. Flor,分別上台向本會表達感謝之情,並指出,希望能有更多像本會一樣富有愛心的人士能積極參與,讓學生們能更好的參加體育活動,有助於磨練學生的團隊合作和運動員精神,同時增強身體素質,促進健康成長。

本會董事、亦為描東岸菲華商會理事長黃志安致詞時,提醒學生們「大夢想總是從一小步開始」,要好好珍惜資源,用心學習,努力使自己早日成才,回饋家鄉,回報社會。

理事長黃書瑋在移交儀式上致詞表示,俗話說,培養冠軍需要整個社會的努力。因此,讓我們的孩子感受到他們在追求夢想的過程中得到了支持和鼓舞是非常重要的。他補充說,雖然奧運金牌目前仍是阿露百公立小學的夢想,但菲華工商總會將永遠不會停止幫助年輕一代茁壯成長,為國爭光。

活動在本會理事長黃書瑋與Ocampo校長簽署運動設備捐贈協議後,在全校師生的見證下,雙方進行移交儀式,校方贈送感謝狀予本會,由理事長黃書瑋代表接受。董事黃志安贈送該校全體師生餅乾,並贈教學文具給老師們。

本會向來關心教育事業,支持、重視學生在德智體的全面發展,歷年來定期舉辦國際象棋、乒乓球和舞獅等體育競賽。此次以「培養支援運動員」為主題的體育器材捐贈活動,本會特贈送全套乒乓球桌、球拍、國際象棋及讀時器,和籃球及排球等,藉以豐富鄉村學子們的課餘生活。
