On 08 May 2026, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tzu Chi Medical Center Philippines. Among the distinguished guests in the ceremony were Hon. Francisco “Isko" Moreno Domagoso, Mayor of Manila, and Hon. Chi Atienza, Vice Mayor of Manila.
On behalf of CFBCI, President Gerald Uy Chan, together with Honorary President Stephen Tan Sia, Vice President Antonio Tan, Director Gregorio Lagamayo, Director Jimmy Ang, and other officers and members, graced the occasion to show support and gratitude. CFBCI President Chan was invited as one of the guests of honor for the ceremonial groundbreaking, while Vice President Antonio Tan represented Tzu Chi benefactors from Manila.
The ceremony was conducted with solemnity and grandeur under clear skies. Tzu Chi monks led the guests in a ceremonial procession carrying symbolic flags, followed by bell-ringing and drum-beating by members of the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. Volunteers and preschool children also presented sign language and dance performances that reflected Tzu Chi’s message of compassion and “Great Love.”
CFBCI President Chan extended his congratulations to Tzu Chi, recognizing its longstanding charitable and medical contributions in the Philippines and praising its spirit of compassion and service. Vice President Tan likewise highlighted the project’s significance, noting that patients from across the country would benefit from improved healthcare access through the support of Tzu Chi volunteers.
The medical center stands as one of the flagship projects of Tzu Chi Philippines, a non-government organization widely recognized for promoting sincerity, integrity, and honesty through its enduring mission of kindness, compassion, and humanitarian service.
The ceremony concluded with guests participating in the symbolic groundbreaking using golden shovels, offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and the successful completion of Tzu Chi’s second medical infrastructure.
菲華工商總會訊：二零二六年五月八日（星期五），本會理事長曾國強偕同名譽理事長謝國萬、副理事長陳華民、董事許福星、洪海濱，常務理事呂偉利、莊長順與理事張其安等多位領導親臨佛教慈濟志業園區，出席菲律賓慈濟醫院的隆重動土典禮。
典禮當天晴空萬里，匯聚諸山長老、馬尼拉市長莫仁諾、副市長亞典沙、政府要員、華社領袖及各界賢達，本會理事長曾國強受邀擔任動土嘉賓之一，共同見證慈濟醫療志業邁向全新里程碑；副理事長陳華民則代表米骨區慈濟志工共同動土。
活動流程莊嚴隆重，慈濟師父帶領嘉賓行禮，並持佛教旗、慈濟旗及醫院藍圖入場。隨後由慈濟「人醫會」醫師鳴鐘擊鼓，象徵工程正式啟動；慈濟志工及幼教小朋友也帶來精采的手語與舞蹈表演，傳遞「大愛」祝福。
典禮上，多位貴賓受邀致詞。慈濟人醫會召集人柯賢智醫師指出：「這間醫院同時是綜合醫院和三級醫院，這將是一棟十二層樓的建築，地上十一層、地下一層，床位大約三百多床，配備齊全。」馬尼拉市長莫仁諾亦對慈濟表達誠摯謝意，表示馬尼拉感到高興且榮幸，期待夢想實現，使全城從慈濟的抱負中受益。
理事長曾國強對此盛事表達了熱烈的祝賀與崇高的敬意。他指出，慈濟長期在菲律濱深耕慈善與醫療，其「救治眾生、弘揚大愛」的精神令人動容。值此隆重動土之際，他代表本會祝賀菲律濱慈濟醫院工程推展順利，並盛讚慈濟的無私奉獻為華社與全菲樹立了卓越的慈善典範。身兼本會副理事長與米骨區慈濟志工雙重身份的陳華民則表示：這不僅嘉惠馬尼拉，也惠及整個國家，讓外省病患能被送往馬尼拉，並且由慈濟的師兄師姊協助，得到更好的醫治。
典禮尾聲，全體嘉賓以金鏟象徵性動土，祈願守護生命、國泰民安，標誌著慈悲的種子深植菲律濱土地。本會同仁對慈濟大愛精神深表敬佩，並衷心祝願這座守護生命的海外第二家綜合醫院早日落成，造福更多民眾。
