CFBCI joins Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Lucky Chinatown

On 18 November 2025 at 6:00 PM, Lucky Chinatown officially launched its “Christmas Unfolded” holiday season series. Highlighting art, culture, and sustainable design, the celebration filled the City of Manila with a vibrant and heartwarming festive spirit.

The joyous ceremony was attended by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Ilagan Atienza, District 3 Councilor Jefferson “Jeff” C. Lau, Lucky Chinatown General Manager Norico Mizoguchi, and various community leaders. Representing the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), Executive Vice President Gerald Uy Chan and Corporate Secretary Henry Go were delegated by President Samuel Lee Uy to witness the lighting of the giant Christmas tree — a symbol of hope and blessings for the season.

This year’s festivities reimagined the joy of Christmas through creativity and innovation. Artists Liu Jianghua and Li Xiao, founders Accordion Paper Furnitures in Shenzhen, collaborated to showcase foldable art sculptures made from honeycomb kraft paper. Each installation blended light and movement, capturing the harmony of tradition and modern artistry in a breathtaking display.

The artworks conveyed the vitality of the holiday season while reflecting the cultural fusion of Chinese and Filipino heritage in historic Manila. At the center stood a themed Christmas tree designed with a “fan-page” motif, inviting visitors to write their wishes on its foldable pages, sending their blessings out into the festive glow.

The evening was further enlivened by heartfelt performances from local theater artists and student choirs, filling the mall with music and warmth. The lighting ceremony also embraced the spirit of giving. In partnership with Chinese community organizations, Lucky Chinatown helped grant the Christmas wishes of the Binondo Parish Youth Ministry, spreading joy to young people and deepening the celebration’s message of sharing and care.

CFBCI maintains a strong and enduring partnership with Lucky Chinatown. Over the years, the mall has generously provided venues free of charge for the association’s various competitions, including lion dance, wushu, table tennis, and lantern-making, supporting cultural preservation and youth engagement. These events have become annual highlights that strengthen Filipino-Chinese cultural heritage and foster community exchange.

EVP Chan emphasized that Lucky Chinatown is not only an important gathering place for the Chinese community but also a steadfast partner in cultural and educational initiatives. CFBCI is deeply honored to participate in this year’s Christmas lighting ceremony and looks forward to further collaboration to continue bringing positivity and inspiration to the community.
