To strengthen economic, trade, and cultural linkages with China’s western regions and deepen understanding of inland city development, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) successfully organized a Five-Day, Four-Night Economic and Cultural Study Tour to Chengdu–Chongqing from October 30 to November 3. Participants returned with valuable insights into China’s rapid urban growth and economic progress.
The delegation departed Manila on October 30 via Air China flight CA480 bound for Chengdu, then continued by high-speed rail to Chongqing to begin a comprehensive and enriching itinerary. Day one included stops at Ciqikou Ancient Town and the unique Li Zi Ba light rail station, famous for its train-passing-through-a-building design, which offered the group a close look at Chongqing’s mountainous landscape and its creative transportation solutions.
The second day featured visits to E’ling No. 2 Factory Cultural Creative Park, Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, Chongqing Guotai Art Center, and Danzishi Old Street. Delegates commended the city’s exceptional urban planning, where heritage sites and modern architecture coexist beautifully. Evening visits to Nanbin Road and Hongyadong further showcased Chongqing’s stunning nightscape, dynamic urban energy, and growing reputation as a first-tier city.
On the third day, the delegation traveled to the Leshan Giant Buddha, taking a boat tour to admire the world’s largest stone-carved seated Buddha and experience the solemn majesty of ancient Buddhist culture. They then proceeded to Baoguo Temple on Mount Emei and enjoyed the renowned “Emei Kung Fu Show,” gaining a deeper appreciation for China’s cultural and artistic legacy.
The fourth day brought the group to the Dujiangyan Panda Park, where they observed giant pandas up close. They also explored the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and later witnessed the captivating “Blue Tears” nighttime illumination at Nanqiao Bridge.
That evening, the delegates savored an authentic Sichuan spicy hotpot, thoroughly enjoying the rich culinary traditions of the region. On the final day, the group visited Chengdu International Financial Square (IFS), experiencing Chengdu’s unique blend of leisurely living and modern vibrancy.
The delegation returned to Manila aboard China Airlines flight CA479, concluding a meaningful and memorable study tour. President Samuel Lee Uy shared that the journey provided firsthand exposure to the impressive advancements of western Chinese cities in infrastructure, cultural innovation, environmental management, and smart city development, clear reflections of China’s commitment to high-quality growth.
CFBCI remains dedicated to fostering stronger cooperation and exchange between the Filipino and Chinese business communities, contributing to shared prosperity and deeper cultural connections.
