To honor and express gratitude for the tireless dedication and invaluable contributions of media professionals to society, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) hosted a luncheon for Chinese-language media practitioners on October 8, 2025, at the association’s 8th Floor Auditorium.
The event gathered representatives from local Chinese-language newspapers, leading magazines, online news platforms, and correspondents from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Over a hundred journalists attended the warm and festive gathering.
CFBCI President Samuel Lee Uy personally spearheaded the event. Honored guests included Mr. Tan Tian Siong, Vice Director of Chinese Commercial News, and Mrs. Teresita Ang See, Founder of the Movement for the Restoration of Public Order (MRPO), who both delivered inspiring messages. Senior media executives and representatives joined the celebration, marking the occasion as a significant moment of fellowship and mutual appreciation.
In his address, President Uy remarked, “The Chinese Media Day honors the contributions of journalists who serve as the eyes and ears of society. Over the years, the Chinese-language media in the Philippines have not only chronicled the growth and transformation of the Filipino-Chinese community but have also become an integral part of its story. The Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes reunion and gratitude, so today, we warmly welcome all our media friends to celebrate this special moment shared by journalists and the Chinese community.”
He further acknowledged the pivotal role of Chinese-language media in strengthening ties between China and the Philippines, thus serving as a bridge that fosters cultural exchange, understanding, and cooperation.
In his message, Mr. Tan Tian Siong lauded CFBCI’s active promotion of social welfare initiatives, particularly praising the Pagharap sa Pangarap College Scholarship Program for igniting hope among Filipino youth, an endeavor he described as “deeply admirable.” Meanwhile, Mrs. Teresita Ang See underscored the importance of combating disinformation, urging the media to champion truth and highlight positive stories that inspire confidence and stability in society. Other media leaders also expressed gratitude for CFBCI’s consistent support of journalistic work and conveyed their hopes for even stronger collaboration in the years ahead.
In his closing remarks, CFBCI Vice President Paul Yeung emphasized the media’s vital role as both the guardian of social conscience and a bridge connecting the Filipino-Chinese community with the broader world. “We deeply appreciate your continued attention and coverage of our Association’s initiatives,” he said. “We look forward to developing more meaningful partnerships that promote positive change, strengthen the Chinese community, and enhance Sino-Filipino friendship.”
As the program concluded, representatives from participating media organizations took turns on stage for group photos with the Association’s leadership and distinguished guests, capturing the event’s lively and heartfelt atmosphere. Each media guest also received a Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake and ampao as tokens of gratitude for their steadfast support and partnership, bringing the day’s celebration to a warm and memorable close.
Throughout the luncheon, attendees were treated to video presentations highlighting CFBCI’s recent initiatives, offering a deeper glimpse into the Association’s mission and its enduring commitment to community service and social engagement.
