On October 4, 2025, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) had the privilege of attending the 100th Anniversary Celebration and Induction Ceremonies of the Philippines Sy Tiok Music Association, marking the inauguration of its 101st and 102nd Boards of Directors and Supervisors. The event was held at the Royale Sharksfin Restaurant in Binondo, Manila.

CFBCI is proud to share that Vice Chairman Gregorio Lagamayo was inaugurated as the new President of the association, while Honorary Vice President Antonio Hilario graced the event as Keynote Speaker.

In his address, Honorary President Hilario highly commended the organizational competence and social contributions of the newly inducted officers, expressing his strong confidence in their leadership and future endeavors.

Representing CFBCI, Vice President Paul Yeung delivered a heartfelt congratulatory message. He highlighted the century-long legacy of the Philippines Sy Tiok Music Association as a living chronicle of the resilience and cultural heritage of the overseas Chinese community. He emphasized that the association has long upheld the noble spirit of “Shangyi” (Upholding Righteousness)—embodying mutual support, compassion, and moral integrity.

Vice President Yeung also underscored the association’s enduring mission to promote “silk and bamboo” (traditional Chinese instrumental music), steadfastly preserving and advancing Fujian Nanyin and Shiyin traditions. Together, these musical forms stand as a distinct and cherished cultural treasure within the Filipino-Chinese community.

He further praised President Gregorio Lagamayo as a man of humility, sincerity, and broad-mindedness—highly respected across various sectors for his courtesy and leadership. A successful businessman and exemplary entrepreneur, Mr. Lagamayo has consistently championed education, culture, and philanthropy. His active role in the Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade reflects his selfless commitment to public welfare and community service.

Mr. Lagamayo’s deep, resonant singing voice also mirrors his passion for uniting people through music—often using song to spread warmth and camaraderie at public and charitable events. Vice President Yeung expressed confidence that under President Lagamayo’s capable leadership, the Philippines Sy Tiok Music Association will continue to honor the legacy of its founders, open a new chapter in cultural development, and use music as a bridge of friendship between the Chinese and Filipino peoples.

Following the formal program, the celebration concluded on a festive note with a karaoke segment. President Lagamayo and Vice President Yeung took the stage to perform heartfelt songs, captivating the audience with their powerful vocals and genuine emotion. Their performances drew enthusiastic applause, perfectly ending the evening in joy and harmony.
