CFBCI partners with the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation & Abono Partylist, extends assistance to 3,200 typhoon-hit families in Pangasinan 菲華工商總會配合「菲中愛心基金」與Abono黨團攜手向蜂雅斯 蘭省三千二百餘戶風災農民賑濟大米

In recent weeks, the Philippines has endured the devastating impact of three major typhoons—Crising, Dante, and Emong—alongside the southwest monsoon, which triggered widespread flooding and landslides. These calamities have claimed at least 40 lives, left 8 individuals missing, displaced nearly 280,000 residents, and affected over 3.8 million people nationwide, with the destruction spreading across multiple regions.

Guided by the principle, “When others are hungry, we are hungry; when others are in distress, we are in distress,” the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI), in partnership with the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation and the Abono Party Group, traveled to Rosales, Pangasinan on August 7 to extend aid to communities severely hit by the disaster.

The relief drive distributed five-kilogram packs of rice to nearly 3,200 farming families in six barangays: Guiling, Tomana, Carmay, Cabalaoangan Norte, Acop, and Salvacion. Of these supplies, 2,000 rice bags came from the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation, while the remaining 1,200 were jointly donated by the Abono Party Group and Rosales Mayor William Cezar, offering timely assistance and comfort to the affected families.

The initiative was spearheaded by CFBCI Executive Vice President Gerald Uy Chan and Vice Chairman Rosendo So, who also serves as Chairperson of the Abono Party Group, with the support of local government officials and barangay leaders. The office of Senator Imee Marcos likewise joined the mission, distributing porridge, bread, and bottled water to the evacuees.

During the distribution, Executive Vice President Chan conveyed his sympathy to the victims, saying: “This disaster has taken away the livelihoods of many families. CFBCI, together with the member organizations of the Foundation, has always upheld the values of generosity and camaraderie. Through this small act, we hope to let you know that you are not alone — the Chinese community stands with you.”

The distribution campaign covered 37 barangays in Rosales, with most beneficiaries being farmers. The event was carried out in an orderly and heartwarming manner, embodying the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan — mutual aid and solidarity.

The Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation is composed of over 30 major Chinese community organizations, with CFBCI as one of its core members. Together, these groups are dedicated to bringing the compassion of the Chinese community directly to those in need, fostering stronger bonds of friendship between the peoples of the Philippines and China through various charitable and public service efforts.
