In 2009, the Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) launched the Pagharap sa Pangarap College Scholarship Program to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students enrolled in public universities across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. The program has since earned widespread recognition for helping nearly 500 students complete their education and become valuable contributors to society.

One of the partner institutions, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), recently marked its 60th anniversary, highlighted by the renovation of its Justo Albert Auditorium. This renovation was made possible through CFBCI’s support, in honor of the university’s legacy. On the afternoon of July 16, 2025 (Wednesday), a formal signing ceremony was held at CFBCI’s 7th floor conference room to formalize CFBCI’s donation of new auditorium chairs to further strengthen its partnership with PLM.

During the ceremony, CFBCI President Mr. Samuel Lee Uy emphasized that while the donation may appear modest, its impact is meaningful and enduring. “We hope that through this form of tangible support, we can help the university provide a dignified and conducive learning environment — one that inspires young Filipinos to learn and strive for excellence,” he stated. He added that the collaboration with PLM stands as a concrete expression of CFBCI’s commitment to uplifting the community and empowering future generations.

Mr. Domingo Y. Reyes, Jr., President of PLM, led the university’s delegation and expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the faculty and students. “This partnership with CFBCI means more than just cooperation — it reflects a genuine friendship,” he said.

Established in 1965, PLM is the country’s first city-funded, chartered autonomous university. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in medicine, engineering, business, the arts and sciences, education, and other fields. The university is known for prioritizing access to quality education for academically capable but economically disadvantaged students, particularly those residing in Metro Manila. With a consistently high passing rate in government licensure exams, PLM continues to produce professionals who excel in their respective fields. In celebration of its 60th anniversary, CFBCI is donating over 300 brand-new chairs for the auditorium — an enduring symbol of our shared commitment to advancing education and enhancing the learning environment of students.

Looking ahead, CFBCI remains steadfast in its mission to promote quality education. We will continue to work closely with institutions like PLM to cultivate a thriving and inclusive academic environment — one that supports the development of the next generation of exceptional Filipino leaders.
菲華工商總會訊：本會秉持「興商濟世，教育為本」之宗旨，於二零零九年創立「點亮未來」助學方案，專門針對大岷區及外省多所公立大學清寒學子提供助學金，至今已協助近五百名學子順利完成學業，成為社會棟樑，廣獲各界肯定。馬尼拉市大學（Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, PLM）是本會「點亮未來」助學方案所合作贊助的其中一所公立大學，今年該校迎來創校六十週，對其Justo Albert大禮堂進行裝修改造，本會基於對名校的崇敬及支持，協助其完善該禮堂座椅，並於二零二五年七月十六日（星期三）下午，假本會七樓會議室與馬尼拉市立大學舉行捐贈禮堂椅協議簽署儀式，進一步鞏固雙方合作夥伴關係。

在簽署儀式中，本會理事長黃書瑋致詞表示，此次捐贈雖屬簡單舉措，然蘊含深遠意義。「我們希望透過這些實質支持，協助學校打造尊嚴且適宜的學習場域，讓菲律濱青年學子得以在優質環境中汲取知識、追求卓越。」他強調，本會與馬尼拉市立大學的合作，正是本會積極回饋社會、培育未來人才的具體展現。

馬尼拉市立大學校長Domingo Y. Reyes, Jr.律師親率學校行政團隊出席，並代表全校師生誠摯致謝。他表示：「來自菲華工商總會這樣的夥伴的協助，對我們而言意義重大，這不僅是一段合作，更是一份真摯的友誼。」與會的尚有該校行政副校長Ronaldo A. Tan博士、設施管理主任Karen L. Leyson工程師、校長辦公室主任Relson P. Moral律師、執行秘書組組長Ryan Jay Cruz、獎學金事務主任Angie Alvarez、資深資訊員Jomer I. Gomez等代表。

本會出席見證的領導同仁有：外交委員會督導楊良田副理事長、文教委員會督導陳華民副理事長，文教委員會主任曾煥眉董事、外交委員會主任柯仁義董事，立案秘書吳恆利，文教委員會副主任留牡丹、莊南文及理事張其安等人。

馬尼拉市大學創立於一九六五年，至今已歷一甲子，是第一所由市政府資助的特許自治大學。主要科系有：醫學、工程、商業、藝術與科學、教育及其他學科的學士與碩士學位課程。該校採取優待窮人的政策，凡居住於馬尼拉市家境貧困但學業優秀的學生被列為優先錄取對象。每年政府會考成績皆取得高合格率，為各領域培育出優秀專業人才。值此六十週年校慶，本會將捐贈該禮堂三百多張全新座椅，以展現本會持續關注教育發展、改善教學環境的堅定承諾。

本會期望為教育弱勢點燃希望之光，深植改變社會的正向力量；未來，本會也將持續推動教育公益，並與馬尼拉市立大學等教育機構攜手合作，共同打造互助共榮的社會環境，為培育新世代優秀人才盡一份心力。
