On 11 April 2025, Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) President Samuel Lee Uy and Executive Vice President Gerald Uy Chan participated in an exclusive meeting with Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief of Staff General Rommel Marbil, and other leaders of prominent Filipino-Chinese organizations.
Held at the office of DOJ Secretary Remulla, the conversation among these individuals was straightforward in conveying a common goal — to combat the alarming cases of kidnapping in the country by working together as a team. Ten days later, on April 19th, an impressive breakthrough happened — PNP Chief Marbil declared that the kidnap-slay case of Anson Que, a Filipino-Chinese businessman, has been solved and justice is served. Three suspects were apprehended and the mastermind “will be identified and formally charged within the week” according to PNP.
CFBCI is glad to witness this significant collaboration among the three government agencies and the Tsinoy community. A task force was created composed of DOJ, NBI, and PNP, with close communication with different Tsinoy groups.
On behalf of CFBCI, President Uy expressed their immense appreciation for such timely response and unmatched concern of the national government towards the Tsinoy community. He also assured the utmost cooperation of the organization to uphold peace and order within the Filipino-Chinese community and in the whole nation. Since its establishment in 1998, CFBCI has been working closely with various government agencies to propagate positive changes in our society, especially to reach out to grassroots communities in need of immediate support.
Furthermore, CFBCI is among all the Tsinoy organizations mourning over the loss of Mr. Anson Que, Mr. Armanie Pabillo, and all innocent lives suffered in the hands of brutish perpetrators. Our organization also amplifies the call of the community to remain their vigilance and refrain from business dealings with disreputable personalities.
Lastly, CFBCI commends the persistent efforts of the government and the police, so justice to the victims be achieved at the soonest time and peace be restored in our hearts. Because after all, trade and industry could only flourish when our communities can live without fear.
