At 1:00 p.m. on last August 22, 2024, Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. officers and members, led by President Samuel Lee Uy and in cooperation with the FILIPINO TSINO MAGKAIBIGAN FOUNDATION, headed to Bacoor Government Center to facilitate the official turnover of relief goods for 500 fishermen affected by the recent oil spill incident.

Three weeks ago, eight areas (Bacoor, Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario, Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate) in Cavite were placed under a state of calamity due to the oil spill from the sunken MT Terra Nova reaching the province’s coastline. In his courtesy visit last August 22nd at CFBCI headquarters, Bacoor City Mayor Strike B. Revilla discussed the case in further detail.

Upon hearing the situation of fishermen in Bacoor, CFBCI immediately decided to extend assistance to the locals whose primary livelihood is currently being halted due to the unprecedented event. The group arrived at Bacoor City by 3:00 p.m. and received a warm welcome by the Mayor himself.

The second encounter of the two parties was a heartwarming scene; Mayor Revilla proudly showed the newly renovated facilities in his beloved city hall thus gaining sincere praise from our members. With a government center that is situated at the heart of the city, government services can be conveniently accessed by local citizens of Bacoor.

After the tour, CFBCI began its turnover of relief packs containing rice, canned goods, noodles, and coffee to the residents. Mayor Revilla expressed his deepest gratitude to the quick response of the organization. As they received the relief goods, each citizen also showed their gratitude to CFBCI by thanking the officers personally. Definitely, it is our pleasure to help our brothers and sisters in need.

Overall, it was a successful turnover where kindness, altruism, and camaraderie were highlighted. CFBCI will be always looking forward to reaching communities in need of help and extending immediate assistance. After all, we shall all rise together as one nation.

菲華工商總會訊：七月廿五日颱風「卡麗娜」導致天候惡劣，菲律濱籍油輪MT新地號（MT Terra Nova）輪載有八櫃工業燃油試圖返回港口時，在馬尼拉外海傾覆沉船，造成一名船員喪生，其載運的一百四十萬公升工業燃料油外漏，當局花了三週時間控制漏油情況，並安裝設備抽取船上燃油；菲律濱海岸防衛隊當時警告，燃油洩漏到海灣是個「環境災難」，這也是菲律濱最嚴重的漏油事件，當時地方政府設立了「禁漁區」，影響了海灣數以萬計的漁民。

本會於八月廿二日（星期四）及九月三日（星期二），分兩個下午，配合「菲中愛心基金」在甲美地省巴科奧爾市（Bacoor, Cavite），派發援助品予當地受漏油事件影響生計的六百多戶漁民家庭，以解燃眉之急。出席第一次活動的本會領導同仁計有：理事長黃書瑋，常務理事顏漢龍、莊南文、洪海濱、侯逸蘭、施惠萍，理事佘玲玲、顏孫發及英文秘書梅西卡；第二次的活動則由執行副理事長曾國強率領常務理事留牡丹、顏漢龍、施惠萍，理事顏孫發及英文秘書梅西卡出席。

該兩天的援助活動，均受到市長雷維拉（Mayor Strike Bautista Revilla）的熱情接待，並在其辦公室幕僚長Maria Cristina Ignacio-Alberto醫師和馬尼拉華人區描籠涯協會主席劉少強的陪同下，帶領本會領導同仁參觀市政廳，一一介紹市政府大樓內的設施及各個辦公室。在市長雷維拉及市府人員的協助下，親自將該批援助品送到每一戶漁民手中，讓他們感受到來自華社的愛心。

「菲中愛心基金」是由華社三十二個主要團體所共同組成，本會亦是成員單位之一，旨在促進菲中人民之間的友好關係。此次「卡麗娜」颱風災情嚴重，本會多次配合「菲中愛心基金」到各地賑災，把華社的愛心親自送到災民手中，受惠災民均感受到來自華社的愛心，對「菲中愛心基金」的善心義舉表示肯定與讚揚。
